The 749 replaced the 748 as Ducati's middleweight superbike, taking the 999's styling and chassis ideas but with a smaller 90 mm-bore Testastretta engine. Reviewers found it lighter, easier and more usable than the 999. The base model is a two-seater with fixed rake and an uncoated fork; the S has higher-spec adjustable suspension.
