Ducati built a handful of desmodromic 750 V-twin racers for the 200 Miles of Imola in April 1972. Paul Smart won and Bruno Spaggiari finished second in a near-photo finish, a result that put Ducati's V-twin on the world stage. The victory inspired later 750 Super Sports and the 2005 PaulSmart 1000 LE.
