The 1971 750GT was Ducati's first production V-twin, a touring-minded bike with a bevel-driven overhead-cam 90 degree engine. It was tall and long, stable at speed but awkward at low speed. Sales started slowly until Paul Smart's 1972 Imola win with the racing version raised the model's profile.
