The 800SS replaced the 750SS with a larger 803 cc fuel-injected air-cooled twin, a six-speed gearbox and a new steel-trellis frame. Reviewers found it sharp and confident on twisty roads, with decent low and mid-range power but a modest top end, firm suspension and higher servicing cost than Japanese rivals.
