The 851 SP was the limited Sport Production version of the 851 built for the Italian production-racing series. It kept the Strada's frame and 851 cc engine but added a higher compression ratio, a hotter state of tune and an Öhlins rear shock for about 120 hp, making it the sharpest 851 on the road at the time.
