The SP2 was a limited homologation special for Ducati's 1990 production racing, quietly using an enlarged 888 cc engine with two injectors per cylinder, Pankl rods, a close-ratio gearbox and a Termignoni exhaust. Chassis upgrades included Öhlins suspension at both ends and an aluminium rear subframe; it was expensive and built in small numbers.
