The 860GT was Ducati's first large-capacity sports tourer, with the 90 degree V-twin enlarged to 864 cc and wrapped in Giorgio Giugiaro's angular, boxy styling. The GTE was the electric-start version sold in 1974 and 1975. It had an upright riding position aimed at town and touring use, with a single front disc, and testers praised its midrange pull and gearbox while criticising the lone front brake and some high-speed weave.
