A sportier take on the pushrod 98 with higher compression, a four-speed gearbox and sporty bodywork, introduced in 1953. The SS was a hotter version with a larger carburettor. It was no racer, but it sold well and sat in Ducati's range while the overhead-cam Gran Sport took over the competition role.
