The 2011 Monster 796 carried over the 803 cc air-cooled Desmodue twin with 87 hp, a slipper clutch and a light trellis frame. It was the middle step of the Monster range, easier to ride than the 1100 but quicker than the 696. ABS remained optional and the Monster Art graphic packs offered extra colour schemes.
