For 2000 the Monster 900 gained Marelli electronic fuel injection with 45 mm throttle bodies, replacing the Mikuni carburettors, and revised gearbox and primary ratios. Power stayed about 78 hp but delivery became smoother and cleaner, and the front fork grew to 43 mm. Chassis and styling stayed close to the earlier 900s.
