The 900S was the up-specification carburetted Monster of the late 1990s, sharing the 904 cc two-valve air-cooled twin and trellis frame of the standard 900 but fitted with an Ohlins rear shock in place of the Boge unit. Reviewers described it as stable and well damped, with smooth power, light in traffic and short of wind protection at speed.
