The Dark was the matte-black, lower-priced S2R 800, sold without the headlight fairing, painted seat cover and tapered alloy bars of the other S2R variants. It kept the 803 cc air-cooled twin, slipper clutch, single-sided swingarm and high twin exhaust, giving the same performance at a lower price.
