For 2005 the 1000 DS received a redesigned air-cooled engine aimed at lower emissions while keeping its performance, along with details such as a two-part nose fairing, a split fuel tank and an electrically adjustable headlight. It continued the upright sport-touring character and was offered in red, silver and gloss black.
