The Pikes Peak edition is the sport-flavoured 1260 S, with a Desmosedici-style racing livery, lightweight forged wheels, Öhlins suspension and carbon-fibre parts. It has sharper front-end geometry and a longer swingarm than the base bike, tying in with Ducati's wins at the Pikes Peak hill climb. Engine and electronics are those of the 1260 family.
