Ducati's first Panigale built around a new 890 cc 90° V2 engine instead of the Superquadro twin, with variable intake valve timing and a lighter engine than the one it replaced. The chassis was reworked with a new aluminium frame and double-sided swingarm in the style of the Panigale V4, plus fresh bodywork and a 5 in TFT. It was sold as the V2 and the better-equipped V2 S with Öhlins suspension, a lithium battery and a single seat.
