The ST4 put the four-valve Desmoquattro engine from the 916 into the ST2 sport-touring chassis, answering complaints that the ST2 lacked top-end power. It makes about 107 hp and tops out near 250 km/h, with Showa suspension and Brembo brakes. The ST2 stayed on as a cheaper, softer alternative. For 2000 it gained uprated brakes, a new dash and a wider rear wheel.
