The 1983 FLHTC put the Electra Glide's fork-mounted batwing fairing onto the newer rubber-mounted FLT Tour Glide chassis, with a five-speed gearbox and twin front discs. This made it much smoother than the old solid-mount FLH. Testers liked its comfort, lighting and sealed luggage, but found it expensive and heavy at low speed, and still powered by the ageing Shovelhead.
