For 1984 the Electra Glide Classic got the new 1340 Evolution engine, nicknamed the 'Blockhead', which gave more power, more torque and far better reliability than the Shovelhead. It also gained an air-assisted anti-dive front fork. Road tests praised its stability, comfort and weather protection, but noted a heavy clutch and slow steering.
