The last Shovelhead FLHS models kept the solid-mounted 80 cu in engine, four-speed gearbox and chain drive after Harley had moved its main touring line to the rubber-mounted FLT/FLHT frame. Owners have since valued them as simple, rugged old-school Electra Glides, and the Shovelhead's reputation for unreliability is often said to be exaggerated.
