The FLT Tour Glide arrived for 1980 as Harley-Davidson's first purpose-built tourer on a new frame, with the 80 cu in Shovelhead rubber-mounted, a five-speed gearbox and a frame-mounted fairing rather than the fork-mounted Batwing of the Electra Glide. For 1981 it continued largely unchanged apart from electrical revisions, and with its full luggage it was among the heaviest road bikes of its day.
