The 80 cu in Fat Bob kept the split twin tanks and four-speed, chain-drive Super Glide layout while the FXR range moved on around it. When the FXE Super Glide was dropped for 1985 the Fat Bob became the base FX model, and that final year it received the new Evolution engine before the line ended.
