The FXRT Sport Glide was Harley-Davidson's first factory sport-tourer, built on the new rubber-mounted FXR frame with a frame-mounted fairing and hard saddlebags. The first-year bike kept the Shovelhead engine and ran its chain inside a full enclosure, and it introduced air-adjustable suspension with an anti-dive front end. Testers liked its handling, comfort and weather protection more than its braking.
