By the late 1980s the Sport Glide had settled into its mature form: Evolution engine, five-speed gearbox, belt drive and twin front discs inside the FXR's rubber-mounted chassis. It remained the lighter, better-handling alternative to the big Electra Glide for riders who wanted luggage and a fairing. Sales never matched the cruisers, which eventually cost it its place in the range.
