For 2009 the Road Glide moved onto Harley's all-new Touring chassis, with a reworked frame and swingarm, a 17-inch front and wider 16-inch rear wheel, Brembo brakes and a larger 6-gallon tank. The Twin Cam 96 and six-speed gearbox carried over, but the new frame noticeably improved stability and load-carrying compared with the 2008 bike.
