For 1999, its second season, the Road Glide got Harley-Davidson's new Twin Cam 88 engine in place of the Evolution, with more displacement and torque from twin chain-driven camshafts. It kept the frame-mounted fairing with stereo and gauges, rubber-mounted FL chassis, air-adjustable suspension and fibreglass saddlebags, and came as the carburetted FLTR or fuel-injected FLTRI. Its low seat and long-legged gearing suit highway touring.
