The 1999-2000 Road King Classic was the first Classic to carry the new rubber-mounted Twin Cam 88 engine, which replaced the Evolution V-twin in 1999, with sequential port fuel injection fitted as standard. It took the plain Road King tourer and added nostalgic dress-up: laced wheels with whitewall tyres, leather-wrapped saddlebags, a tooled seat and a big chrome headlamp nacelle, alongside a detachable screen, air-adjustable rear shocks and cruise control.
