The Softail Deluxe arrived for 2005 as a nostalgic, 1950s-flavoured cruiser with full valanced fenders, laced 16-inch wheels on wide whitewall tyres, a teardrop tank and pulled-back bars. Its very low seat made it the lowest Softail of the time. Buyers could choose the carburetted FLSTN or fuel-injected FLSTNI, both with the counterbalanced Twin Cam 88B and five-speed gearbox.
