The Twin Cam generation of the Night Train swapped the Evolution for a black powder-coated Twin Cam 88B, the counterbalanced version of the Twin Cam built for the rigidly mounted Softail. Blacked-out tank console, oil tank, air cleaner and fender struts kept the stealth look, with staggered shorty chrome pipes as the main bright parts. Fuel injection became an option (FXSTBI) alongside the carburetted FXSTB.
