For 2000 the Springer Softail switched from the Evolution engine to the Twin Cam 88B, a counterbalanced version of Harley's new twin-cam V-twin designed so it could stay rigidly mounted in the Softail frame. The chrome leading-link springer fork and 21-inch laced front wheel carried on, giving the bike its 1940s look. Brakes and electrics were updated across the Softail range that year.
