The XLCR was Harley's attempt at a European-style café racer, designed by Willie G. Davidson with Bob Modero and Jim Haubert on Sportster mechanicals. It wore an all-black finish, a bikini fairing, a long XR750-derived tank, a solo seat and a siamesed two-into-two exhaust, with triple disc brakes. Buyers largely ignored it and production ended after 1978 apart from a handful of 1979 bikes, but it later became a sought-after collector's machine.
