2004 brought the biggest Sportster change in years: an all-new frame with the engine rubber-mounted to cut vibration, with the Custom carrying a 4.5-gallon tank. The 1200 Custom kept its laced 21-inch front wheel, gained high-compression heads and forward controls, and was still carburetted.
