For 2016 and 2017 the 1200 Custom continued as the dressier, fuller-tanked 1200 Sportster, with chrome detailing, a wide 16-inch front wheel and a 17-litre tank. It carried over the higher-compression 1200 Evolution engine and the larger 300 mm brakes introduced in 2014, with ABS still an extra-cost option. It was the more comfortable, longer-range alternative to the stripped Dark Custom Sportsters.
