The Forty-Eight Special was added for 2018 as a 1970s-flavoured variant of the Forty-Eight, launched alongside the Iron 1200. It swapped the low drag bar for tall Tallboy handlebars and dressed the peanut tank in retro graphics, combining blacked-out finishes with chrome accents. Underneath it shared the 1202 cc Evolution V-twin, 49 mm fork and fat 16-inch cast wheels of the standard bike, with ABS and a security system available as options.
