For 1991 the 883 Sportster gained a five-speed gearbox, the main change from the first Evolution models, and belt final drive spread to the whole Sportster range by 1993. It stayed Harley-Davidson's entry model: easy to start, relaxed rather than fast, predictable in corners, with a heavy clutch, modest brakes and a small tank good for about 100 miles.
