The 2001-2002 883 Hugger carried on as the low-seat Sportster, keeping the rigid-mounted 883 cc Evolution V-twin, belt drive, shortened suspension, buckhorn bars and mid-mount controls. Claimed output rose to 53 hp in this period. It was among the last frame-mounted Sportsters before the rubber-mounted range arrived for 2004.
