The 2000-2001 883 Custom carried on unchanged in concept: the cheapest Harley with custom styling, a 21-inch front, forward controls and a bigger tank on the rigid-mount 883 chassis. Reviewers liked its look and genuine Harley feel for new riders, but found it slow, ordinary in corners and stiffly sprung.
