When the old FX chassis was retired in 1986, the FXR Super Glide II dropped the 'II' and became the FXR Super Glide. It used the FXR frame derived from the FLT Tour Glide, with a rubber-mounted 1340 cc V-twin, five-speed gearbox and belt drive, giving a smoother and better-handling bike than the solid-mount FXE it replaced.
