For 2012 the Night Rod Special was restyled with a tapered tail section, lighter cast wheels and revised ergonomics that brought the bars and pegs closer to the rider. The rear suspension was retuned while the 1250 cc Revolution engine carried over. It remained the blacked-out power cruiser of the V-Rod family.
