The 1984 XR1000 was the second and final year of Harley's XR-750-inspired street Sportster, with no mechanical changes from the 1983 bike. Its 998cc engine with XR racing heads, twin Dell'Orto carburettors and stacked left-side exhausts made it the fastest Sportster of its day. A high price and its rough-edged manners kept sales low, which is why the XR1000 is now a collector's bike.
