The AX-1 was the Japanese-market version of the NX250 dual-purpose bike, also sold in Oceania. It shared the NX250 chassis and liquid-cooled 249 cc DOHC single but added alloy rims, an aluminium Pro-Link swingarm with a rear disc, twin round headlights, hotter cams, a stainless exhaust and revised carburettor settings. Light and tall, it suited city commuting and gravel roads alike.
