The C70 arrived in 1969 to replace the C65, giving the step-through Cub a 72 cc overhead-cam single with a little more pull than the 50 cc versions. It kept the familiar pressed-steel underbone, leg shields, leading-link fork and three-speed semi-automatic gearbox, so riders never needed a clutch lever. In North America it was sold as the Passport and became a staple commuter and campus bike through the 1970s.
