For 2018 the CB1000R was completely redesigned as the second generation (SC80) and became the flagship of Honda's "Neo Sports Cafe" family alongside the CB125R and CB300R. A retuned engine gained about 20 hp over the old bike, the frame changed from cast aluminium to a steel mono-backbone, and the bike got ride-by-wire, riding modes, traction control and fully adjustable Showa suspension while keeping a single-sided swingarm.
