Launched in Japan in March 1998, the CB1300 Super Four replaced the CB1000 Super Four as Honda's big retro naked bike, using a carburetted 1284 cc liquid-cooled four derived from the X4 cruiser. This first SC40 generation is recognisable by the dummy cooling fins on the engine, and it was the first Honda road bike with Showa twin rear shocks in a Double Pro-Link arrangement. The 1999 update added adjustable suspension and a centre stand.
