The 1968 K1 was the first major update of the CB450, bringing a five-speed gearbox, a restyled fuel tank, rubber fork gaiters in place of metal shrouds, and separate speedometer and rev-counter mounted above the headlamp. The engine kept its torsion-bar DOHC design and 45 hp rating. It gave the bike a more modern look in line with Honda's late-1960s range.
