The 2008 SC59 Fireblade was an all-new bike: a shorter-stroke 999 cc engine with titanium intake valves and a higher redline, a new die-cast aluminium frame and swingarm, a slipper clutch and a stubby low-slung exhaust in place of the old under-seat pipes. It was markedly lighter and more compact than the SC57 it replaced.
