For 1994 the Fireblade stayed on the 893 cc first-generation platform; the main mechanical change both sources mention is a revised gearshift drum for smoother changes. Reviews of the time still rated it the lightest, sharpest litre-class sportsbike, while complaining about a harsh ride, high-rev buzz and limited wind protection.
