The 2000 model (SC44, sold as CBR929RR in North America) was an all-new Fireblade with a 929 cc fuel-injected engine, a pivotless aluminium frame, inverted forks, a variable exhaust valve and finally a 17-inch front wheel. It was significantly lighter and more powerful than the 919, though early tests noted front-end shake on bumpy roads under hard acceleration.
