For 2002 (SC50, CBR954RR in North America and Japan) the bore grew to 75 mm for 954 cc, with revised fuel injection, a stiffened frame and swingarm, larger 330 mm front discs and restyled bodywork. At 168 kg dry it was lighter than the new 1000 cc rivals, trading peak power for agility.
