The 1980 CBX, known as the A model, brought detail updates rather than a redesign: air-assisted front forks and black Comstar wheels, with some bikes assembled at Honda's Ohio plant. Reviewers still found the six smooth and thrilling but heavy and expensive to keep, and tightening rules on very powerful bikes in markets such as Germany pushed Honda towards a milder tune.
