The 1984 CR500R was the first of Honda's 500 cc motocross two-strokes, replacing the CR480R with a longer-stroke 491 cc engine and a power valve. It was the only air-cooled CR500R, and paired a front disc with a rear drum brake. It was finished in red with yellow number plates and a blue seat.
